Artworks that tell the story of life's transformations in three dimensions
Klaus Christ is exhibiting at the Museum of Modern Art
Even as a child, Klaus Christ had a penchant for artistic and three-dimensional creation: he would playfully fashion imaginative forms out of clay and mud in his grandfather’s garden. The trained artist and educator later traveled extensively. There he gathered inspiration for his works in wood, stone, and metal, which explore themes of transformation, movement, and relationships. The sculptures radiate an inner vitality; they are both aesthetically pleasing and profound. “They often convey a certain lightness and fluidity, while remaining solid and tangible at the same time,” explains Klaus Christ.
In the exhibition “Processes of Transformation” at the Museum of Modern Art, the Nentershausen-based artist presents works that speak to the creative forces of nature and the transformative processes of life.
Anyone interested in the sculptures and the artist is invited to attend the opening reception on Sunday, May 24, at 3 p.m. Following an introduction by Klaus Christ, the opening will feature a dance performance by Henrike Sauer and a musical performance by Regina Winter. Over coffee, cake, and refreshments, visitors will also have the opportunity to chat with the artist.

Sculpture Workshop
Poster Workshop with Klaus Christ
Mark your calendars and sign up now: As part of his exhibition “Transformation Processes,” artist and creativity coach Klaus Christ is offering a sculpture workshop in front of the Museum of Modern Art. Beginners and advanced participants alike will have the opportunity to create their own sculpture on Saturday, June 20, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday, June 21, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The process is process-oriented: step by step, a form emerges from a raw stone without having a fixed form in mind beforehand. “This awakens inner creative forces, energy, courage, and the will to create, leading to surprising results,” says sculptor Klaus Christ. Since the workshop uses soft stones such as alabaster, serpentine, and soapstone, advanced technical skills are not required. In addition to the hands-on work, there will be brief presentations on the theory of plastic forms and art history related to sculpture, covering artists from Michelangelo, Rodin, Brancusi, Arp, Moore, and Giacometti to Tony Cragg.
The course fee is 160 euros, plus 4 euros per kilo of stone (a 4- to 5-kilogram stone is planned for the weekend). Registration at klaus.christ.art@web.de or by phone at 0049 152 0350 71 75 or 0034 653 871 867.
